Maintain Focus
I used to believe that the most valuable asset an executive has is their time and how they spend it.
I was wrong.
You can spend a lot of time on something but still be distracted or at least not fully invested in it.
You can also invest time without creating the conditions necessary to solve the problem, such as when a leader continually gets involved in the wrong areas.
Even if you block hours of time for deep thinking, but you get interrupted four times… you’re probably not going to make much progress.
The actual number one asset a leader possesses is the ability to focus your attention.
The better your ability to focus, the better your thinking. The better your ability to resist the thousands of unimportant issues competing for your attention, the greater your impact.
Everyone is busy. Not everyone loses their focus. What matters most to you and your business? Maintain your focus on that.
